As dusk fell, our glittering guests arrived at the Masquerade Ball in Trefeglwys on Saturday night. Glamorous ladies and neatly arranged gentlemen made their way towards the hall, where high energy Italian opera music filled the air, getting everyone in the mood for a great night.
On entry we were given sweet Bellinis and canapés to get everyone in the mood.
Our hilarious compare, Roger Hughes kicked off the evenings events with a raucous game of “heads and tails “ assisted by Lindy, who took the roll of “coin tosser”. After many a toss we reached our final 2 remaining players, with Joyceline winning the superb wine hamper donated by district nurses, occupational therapists and Penrallt staff. The wine hamper was put back into the promise auction and alone raised £300.
Dinner was served at our beautifully themed tables, and the guests proceeded with the carnival atmosphere of the evening, sitting amid dramatic centre pieces, made from 6 inch sparkly red shoes, gold handbags, fairy lights and feathers galore!
The promise auction got off to a flying start, headed up by our auctioneer for the night Chris Shepherd. Chris and his fast moving assistant Huw captured a foray of flurrying bids for some fantastic prizes with excitement building to fever pitch for the signed Welsh Rugby shirt.
The L’Armoire promise was won by local lady Gladys Perks our highest bidder on the night. We look forward to seeing her in the boutique soon for her personal styling experience plus an outfit of her choice, followed by lunch in the Angel, Llanidloes.
After the auction it was time for “The Hicksters” to take the stage, a fab 5 piece band from Aberystwyth, in a moment the dance floor was alive with singing and dancing in full swing.
It was an absolutely fantastic night, made special by each of our guests!
We are so grateful to all our attendees and sponsors, our raffle and auction donors, for their wonderful generosity.
We’re delighted to announce , that a culmination of everyones efforts resulted in us generating a whopping £7,500 on the evening, an amount that will go to support Llanidloes Palliative care Unit.
